Customers can support one of currently more than 25,000 non-profit organizations in Germany and Austria, at no extra cost to them or the organizations. Since the program was first launched in 2013 in the US, hundreds of thousands of charitable organizations worldwide have received a total of more than 200 million Euros via AmazonSmile.
Initiatives seen receiving the most support from customers in Germany and Austria are focused on animal rights and environmental protection, health services, refugee and disaster aid relief, as well as those working with or caring for children and youth. This was enabled by the more than three million Amazon customers who have since ordered products via AmazonSmile. Since then, a total of 10 million Euros has been disbursed to over 20,000 organizations in both countries. For every qualifying AmazonSmile purchase, AmazonSmile pays out 0.5% of the purchase price to the customer’s favorite organization.ĪmazonSmile has been available to customers in Germany and Austria since November 2016.
